A Look at the New Leather Goods

For all leather items we are now using a spectacular vegetable tanned vachetta leather. This leather, called buttero in Italy, has a rich, deep look and will age beautifully. We look forward to see our new wallet and portfolio develop a nice patina over the next years. Still not impressed? Well, our new wallets are lined with soft Italian suede. Your credit cards have never been so comfortable.

A Closer Look: Spring Knitwear

For Scandinavians, knitwear has always been a spring/summer staple, for breezy mornings, chilly evenings and even cold days. This season we have a few new models, which we hope can satisfy your spring/summer knitwear needs: A new round neck cashmere sweater, perfect both summer and winter, and a cashmere/silk raglan sleeve round neck striped sweater, wonderful for casual summer days. In addition our contrast trim cardigan is reintroduced in two new colours, a camel/caramel combination and a denim blue/cream version.

Spring Scarves

Well, even though the mornings are still quite refreshing up here in Scandinavia, the sun is starting to appear on a more regular basis. When the ice starts melting and leather soles agains becomes a viable option, a thinner scarf might be of interest too. This season we have some very appealing printed and woven linen options, as well as a super light merino. Paisley, plaid or solid, in fresh, but no too fresh, colours. Online very soon.

As the first ties of the season have landed online, we take a more in depth look at some of the new styles, and updated classics, that we are offering this season. Straight from the tiemakers in Naples, this handsome gathering of linen, cotton and silk, is our best tie collection to date. Fully lined or untipped, in 8 cm or 7,5 cm, there is something both for the classicist and the more adventurous tie wearer to be found. In our opinion, the humble tie has never felt fresher.

OK, we know, the selection in the socks department is pretty thin at the moment. However, in only a few days, there will be fresh new stock available. We got a lot of new patterns and colours this season. For spring we mostly go for cotton, but we also have a very nice ribbed solid 100% linen for those hot summer days you want something extra light and airy. A few splashes of colours, but mostly nice muted hues, we got your ankles covered this season.

Leather Goods Factory Revisited

While entering the factory where the Berg&Berg leather goods collection is made, one cannot fail to notice the special atmosphere. The air is filled with voices speaking loudly in Italian, busy workers walks quickly past you, and the room is dense with the smell of leather and machinery at work. The best leather goods are all about the perfect mix of design, material and craftmanship, and it is no doubt that the craftsmen at this particular factory provide the latter.

We do believe that you could do all your gift shopping here at Berg&Berg. However, to make the unpacking session a bit more varied, we have added some nice books, shoes, cars and even a cheese for your consideration. Alltough we prefer to do our shopping the first week of December, to relax with glögg and gingerbread the days before the big day, it´s possible to shop gifts at Berg&Berg until 20 December if you live in Sweden and 19 December if you live in the areas known as rest of the world.

Printed Silk And Wool Ties

We have been waiting for these to arrive for months, and now they are here at last. Definitely worth the wait, these ties are truly elegant, with classic patterns, paisley and rosettes, printed on wool or silk. The two materials give the prints quite different looks, the wool gives a rich, matte feel while the silk is shinier, and perhaps more luxurious. Both styles suits the colder months ahead perfectly, these are ties for the big meeting or the big party.

World Premiere: A Guide to the New Webshop

The main reason for developing a new webshop was a simple one. We wanted a shop that would make it easier to show just how great our products are. That meant larger photos, videos and definitely more editorial content where we can show the story behind the products. We also wanted an easier and more elegant checkout, more payment options, the possibility to tailor content for different markets and we wanted our customers to be able to create accounts where all their Berg&Berg info is stored. Of course we also wanted to take visuals up many notches and use state of the art web technology. Well, with the help of design agency Heydays and e-commerce agency Improove, we have created the shop of our dreams

Making Knitwear in Scotland

With under 15.000 inhabitants Hawick - pronounced Hoick - is far from a metropolis. However, for the knitwear industry it is definitely and important town. The most important Scottish cashmere and lambswool makers, whose garments are famous across the world and a mainstay of the top department stores and men´s shops in the main cities of the world, are based here. Pringle, Johnstons, Lyle&Scott and William Lockie are just some of the names that have a long history here, some of them still have factories in the small Scottish borders town.

Video Diary: Creating New Collections in Italy

Creating new collections is one of the most enjoyable parts of running Berg&Berg. The last week we want to Italy to start planning and designing the collections that will be available in the webshop from september 2013.

So what will the fall of 2013 bring? There will definitely be more belts, a few new bags and new colours and leathers for existing leather items. For the ties, pocket squares and scarves we had a look at an array of fantastic fabrics; wools, cashmere as well as printed and jacquard silks. Now the hard work begins - the killing of darlings. Have a look at the video below for a small look into how we work and how our products are made.

A portfolio perfect for MacBooks and other laptops 13" or less, a fantastic suede lined Ipad case, a billfold wallet and a credit card case are the first ever Berg&Berg leather products. All made in Italian full grain calf leather or soft suede, handmade in a village in Lombardia, outside Milan. These are everything we wanted our leather products to be when we first started to sketch the designs over 1,5 years ago.

Coming Soon: Printed Scarves

In the previous fall/winter collections there has been a few printed wool scarves - made from the same fabrics as our printed wool ties. As these were some of our fastest selling items ever, we have improved the selection considerably this season. In a few days there will be both versions lined with cashmere and unlined types available, printed on wools of various weights and textures. We look forward to present some of our most elegant scarves, just as the weather is getting colder day by day.
