Bright Days Ahead

We talk to Creative Manager Andreas Larsson and founder Mathias Berg about the new spring collection.

As we head into March, the days become brighter, warmer and longer. It is time to plan the switch from flannel and heavy knits to linen, cotton and high twist wool. Berg&Berg has been preparing for the new season for a while already - and spring items have started to appear in our virtual shelves. The coming weeks will see several new drops.

Last season Berg&Berg introduced a new outerwear collection, the Nicolas polo coat and Nisse raglan coat became the brand´s fastest selling items ever. For spring Nisse will be back in cotton (as worn by Andreas in the photos). Nicolas will also return, but for fall 2019.

-We are really happy our outerwear was so quickly embraced by our customers. Nisse comes back for spring made up in Ventile cotton - a water resistant but breathable fabric, great for both spring and autumn layering, Andreas Larsson says.

- I have been wearing mine for a couple of weeks already, this is a true wardrobe staple which could be worn both more casually with a pair of slacks and a crew neck as well as together with a full suit, he adds.

Spring tailoring will arrive soon - and for the first time with a mix and match program.

-We are excited to introduce our mix and match program including the Dan II blazer and Arnold trousers in Huddersfield's Fresco quality. This means that our customers can buy a full suit, just a blazer or a pair of trousers and they are free to combine different sizes. It will of course also be possible to buy an additional pair of trousers for a suit, Mathias Berg says.

The spring shirt collection comes with a few new models.

- We continue to expand our shirting range with some new styles this season. Frans is a mandarin collar pop-over shirt in linen, which will be particularly great when the weather gets a bit warmer and will look great with a more casual summer suit or just worn tucked in with a pair of high rise shorts and loafers. Ferdinand is a new short sleeve button down shirt with a classic fit that flirts slightly with a 90s dad look. A definitive team favorite, Fabian, comes with a soft, large turndown collar, says Larsson.

- As most Scandinavians we are longing for warmer temperatures, and when milder weather finally arrives, we will be be ready with a wider range of short sleeve polos and t-shirts with a great hand. Our popular swim shorts, Alban, will also make a return, Berg says.

Trousers have become a core product category for Berg&Berg. Popular models Alfons and Arnold will naturally still be part of the collection, but will be joined by Anton - which has a more distinctive straight cut, double pleats and belt loops, available both as full legged trousers and a short model with turn ups.

- Anton is slightly more sporty and rugged than Anton and Arnold, and will look great with a tucked in t-shirt and a pair of penny loafers. The trousers will be available in Japanese cotton and washed denim, the shorts in cotton and linen, Larsson says.

The clothing will be joined by an accessories line - stronger and more focused than ever.

- If I have to point out one favorite from our accessories offering - it has to be the jacquard seven fold ties. Unique fabrics and fantastic handwork, Berg says.
