Fabric Guide: Brushed Cotton

Classic and seasonal. We take a look at the fabrics used to strike out a new direction for the Berg & Berg shirt collection.

This season our shirt collection is focused and casual. To pair well with the rest of our collection we have chosen to work with fabrics with some heft and a dry, yet rich touch.

Our particular version of the well known oxford cloth has a peachy, soft touch which feels rich and comfortable, particularly during the colder seasons. The brushed twill, with its parallel ribs and the brushed checked cotton also share a peachy touch and substantial weight.

For fall and winter our ivy style inspired Ferdinand model is available in classic striped and solid oxford cottons (145 g/m) and two beautiful tartans (150 g/m). The Fabian model goes casual, and is available in two solid twills (150 g/m).

“All our shirts this season are somewhat heavier than traditional dress shirts, but several styles, such as the striped and solid Ferdinand shirts are smart enough to wear with a suit, while still pairing effortlessly with jeans or cotton trousers. All fabrics are woven and finished to soften with age, and to wear and wash well,” Andreas Larsson, creative director of Berg & Berg says.

Our shirts and shirting fabrics are manufactured in northern Portugal. Our partner is a family owned business that has been in operation since the 1950s.

“ The company spins its own yarns, manufactures its own cotton fabrics and makes high end finished shirts. To work with a vertically integrated and competent partner gives us great flexibility in creating the perfect shirts for our customers,” Larsson says.
